| Summary Of the
Play: The main subject takes place in
the 3rd part of the play.. Karagöz jumps out of the window of his
house and he finds himself hitting a tree, then he falls down on his back.Then
Hacivat comes and Karagöz asks him if he knew who planted this tree. Hacivat
tells him that this tree is called “The Bloody Poplar” and that it is a
magic tree with witches. Karagöz does not believe him.When he wants to drink
water from the fountain on the tree a snake comes and hits him twice and Karagöz
escapes frightening. After this the witch takes Muslu “the son of Hasan the
poet, and goes away when they were passing by the tree. After this Karagöz
calls a Stork to catch the snake but the witch comes and punishes Karagöz.
Hacivat comes and tries to help him but the witch comes and does the same to
Hacivat. They try to tell the magic words but since they say them wrong they are
turned to vase and jar by the witches. Finally they survive...After all these
adventures Karagöz wants to cut the tree and when he starts cutting it the
guards of the forest come and they tell Karagöz not to cut it and they have a
quarrel, Karagöz runs away from them. Finally he chops the tree and takes the
pieces home and the enjoyments begin. The play ends in a happy way with
enjoyment and dances. |
