Bursa,
with a population of more than a million, has a special place in
the hearts of the Turks.It was the first capital city of the
enormous Ottoman Empire and, in a real sense, the birthplace of
modern Turkish Culture. The city, at an altitude of 155 metres,
has many interesting and attractive sights to see, despite its
indusrtrial base.
| A full day Bursa tour starts at 09:00 in the morning and the first stop is the world-famous Green Tomb, Green Mosque, with their greenish-blue tile decorations.The Turkish Islamic Arts Museum is another attractive place to see which is situated in the same complex.We Leave the Green Tomb area at around 10:30 for the Muradiye Complex. We Visit the famous Ottoman Sultans’ tombs; Sultan Murat II, Sultan Cem, Şehzade Mustafa... Then we take a short walk to an interesting museum, called “The Hüsnü Züber’s Living Museum “ an old Ottoman house which was used as a guesthouse in the 1830s restored in 1992, and turned into a museum of wood burning, “pyrogravure” collection of Hüsnü Züber. We have lunch in Darüzziyafe Turkish Kitchen which serves Turkish cuisine. This building was built in the 15th century as a kitchen for the poor and it is in the Muradiye complex. We dont forget to visit the Ottoman Costumes and Jewellery museum organised by Mr. Esat Uluumay in Muradiye area. After the lunch break we go to visit the Karagöz centre where we see the famous Traditional Turkish Shadow Theatre characters Karagöz and Hacivat. Karagöz centre houses many exhibitions. can... |  |

Bursa’s covered bazaar has many interesting places to see, which many people are not aware of. There are many traditional handcraft shops hidden in the small streets and caravanserais of the bazaar. Some dying arts such as calligraphy is our first stop. An old man who learned this art >from a famous calligrapher is trying to keep this art alive in his small shop. A visit to a Rawhide sandal maker’s shop will be interesting as well as the saddler’s. Just stroll through the ıronworkers’ street and see the blacksmiths working on their workbenches. We are sure you have never seen a tahini maker and tasted the newly cooked tahini. In addition many other interesting places, for instance old caravanserais-silk han will please you. |
